Internal Family Systems as “spinning straw into gold”
In support of IFS #5
I believe the most timely way for people to spin straw into gold is Internal Family Systems (IFS) is the most modern, timely way to “spin straw into gold.”
To grasp this, first we have to “unpack” the fairy tale image.
“Spinning straw into gold” is an image from “Rumpelstiltskin.” The tale itself isn’t relevant. The image can be interpreted several ways, as you can see even here on Medium.
The healthiest psychological interpretation I’m aware of, pertains to what we learn — and don’t learn — in our human experience.
For medieval folk, straw was the most common commodity, like paper used to be before the digital age, so common, you take it for granted.
I invite you to take this into your Inner Game of Life and equate “straw” with your own ordinary, mundane, hum-drum, routine, human experience.
If our human ordinariness is the “straw,” what is the “gold”?
“Gold” in fairy ales almost always represents permanent wisdom, soul wisdom. NOT how to make money on the stock market. Instead, how to connect with and live from your own alignment with Self and walk with your own higher guidance.
