Ukraine war reminds us of humanity’s unresolved bi-polarity

Our individual-collective shadow is still emerging publicly

This post was inspired by this video https://vimeo.com/658010527/85fa80b224 (30 mins) It’s more timely in April 2022 than when first broadcast. The first woman speaking is wonderfully clear. Later, both economist Richard Wolff and economist Michael Hudson are featured.

The discussion enabled me to perceive bi-polarity more clearly. Formerly called manic-depressive syndrome, a very good list of symptoms is here: https://www.nhs.uk/mental-health/conditions/bipolar-disorder/symptoms/

Short version? Bipolarity is dys-regulation between head-brain and gut brain; or even simpler, a split between head-brain and gut brain. This has also usefully been described as a “lack of inner cooperation.”

One word, “dissociation” also describes this; as in, “internal dissociation.” Over time, extreme internal dissociation between head brain and gut brain manifests as bi-polarity.

So what? internal dissociation is the biggest part of the our shadow self, our unresolved internal conflicts, many people prefer to willfully ignore, deny, avoid, repress and suppress.

I celebrate all individuals willing to heal their own internal split thru counseling methods and self-care, not drugs.

The Ukraine war points directly to our collective world-wide, East-West shadow. The “us vs. them” rhetoric so prevalent in US and UK mass media coverage is how this shadow expresses leading to war not peace.

Have you noticed any “us vs. them” talk in politics, in mass media, and in international economics? At the mythological level, this is the unresolved fairy tale of againstness, “us vs. them” playing out in the world around us. Who fuels this? Who cooperates with this destructive agenda? Each of us who puts up with internal splits and dissociation between our gut and our head in our daily life.

Solutions? Michael Jackson said, “Ask the Man in the Mirror to change his ways” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PivWY9wn5ps .

Individually, each person has the right and the privilege to collect tools that heal into a personal healing toolbox and use it when next you are aware of an internal split no longer working for you. Use whatever tools you have in your healing toolbox to name and clear lack of cooperation between your healthy Self and your internal parts. If you have no tools, learn about Internal Family Systems.
